FOOD IS SCIENCE CAMP
Children’s food is Science Camp Curriculum
Children will work side by side with a professional chef and learn the science of food. Each day we will do a different science experiment and link that experiment to the menu we are preparing for the day. There will be a take home from each class to re-emphasize the lesson for the day at home. The importance of safety and healthy food practices will also be taught.
AGES 6-12 (other ages will be considered on an individual basis)
Focus on basic culinary knowledge
• Learn basic nutrition and how to make good food choices
• Kitchen safety and sanitation
• Builds confidence
• Employs basic math skill
• Teach basic gardening (Grow your Food Camp)
• Learn the connection between science and food (Food is Science Camp)

Day and time: Monday – Friday –9:00 - 3:00
Limit: 15 students per class

CLASS TWO – Tuesday - Egg-cell-lent Eggs

CLASS THREE – Wednesday -Real and Fake food
EXPERIMENT - Science of processed food Soda experiment
MENU – Mac and Cheese (Real and Fake)
CLASS FOUR –Thursday -Tasting without Smell
EXPERIMENT: Taste test without smell
MENU – Fresh lemon curd – Lemon Meringue Pie
Roasted garlic and bacon mac and cheese
CLASS FIVE – Friday - Making Butter
EXPERIMENT - Making a liquid into a solid
MENU: Fresh fettuccine pasta and an easy Alfredo sauce.
